Spain Bound

Strange how time flies especially as it only seemed like yesterday that our students were arriving either back from their summer break or to the school for the very first time. Yet here we are only a matter of weeks away from our wonderful and unique warm weather training trip to Spain! This January the students from both of our Schools will spend two weeks playing and training at the Iberostar Resort Royal Andalus in Cadiz Spain. While there they will compete against the Darren Clarke School in a Ryder Cup style format over three days to complete a field of over 80 students.

Spain is a great time for the students to refresh their appetite for the game having spent the winter months focused on grooving new movements in their swing, sharping their mental approach, increasing their level of fitness and improving their all-round performance. Winter is a hard time for most people but our students find it extra difficult as the chance to play is limited and thoughts must be focused on how to improve for next year and make the most of the longer summer nights.

Spain also marks a mile stone for many students in terms of the journey they are taking with us. For many it is the first time they have played golf abroad or even been abroad without their parents. For others it is a chance to relive happy memories and a time when they can truly remember how lucky they are to play such a great game in an incredible environment at our schools. Whatever the reason it is clear that Spain is a time when students begin to grow into their potential and ask how they can progress even further.

On a lighter note one of the highlights for many of our second year students having already been to Spain is the food. Fresh pasta, local fish produce, steak being grilled on a charcoal barque at the table and everything else a person could think of! For some it is a joyous occasion for others who maybe over indulged at Christmas it is a true test of their discipline and ability to walk past the desert table.

It is because of all of this and much more that we are confident that this coming Training Camp will provide many more happy memories and lasting experiences.
